Quality

We view language as a product of culture. Every text is a conglomerate of language and the respective content. The most varied set of external factors influence the text itself, and these aspects that feature in every text assert their influence on the world around them, thus influencing the outside world.

We view all forms of text accordingly, and this includes not least the translations, as a cultural product, that leaves its mark. We see the role of the translator as being accordingly of a very high importance. And due to the fact that, within the context of translation, cultural and other aspects of a specific nation are transported - or of a specific language group within the language group of another nation, or of another language community - the translator carries a cultural responsibility. Language researchers such as Wilhelm von Humboldt have dealt at length with the question of the extent to which language can influence the conscience of the speaker. We are well aware of this responsibility as a provider for foreign languages.

At any given time, specialist translation is a question of "aptitude", an aspect to which we pay the greatest level of attention, in our business.

- Translation as a product of culture
- Achieving the highest rate of equivalence between the source text and the translation text
- A level of competence when considering intellectual convergences
- Translation as a science
- The science of translation
- The translation as a text product independent of the source text

Especially within the context of literary translation, the "transparency" of the source text is required, among other things, as this allows for the characteristics of a foreign language to be made accessible in the translation. Beyond the source text approach, we strive to ensure that the texts created as part of a specialist translation do not sound "translated", rather that the finished translation is, as it were, independent of the source text. In this regard, we view the translator as a "language artist".

Translation and the art of translation

The translator as an agent between different cultures
The translator as the foreign language "twin brother" of the author of the source text
The world today presents itself as one that is, in its various aspects, extremely complex. Technical innovations, internationalisation and globalisation have, to a certain extent, revolutionised language. Almost every author - from culture, economy, technology, politics, law or medicine - makes use of a highly specialised subject language, which not only makes translation be seen as a science, but also demands that the translator adopt a scientific approach in their approach.

- Scientific specialist translations
- Academic approach to translation
- Understanding of the translation as a product of culture
- Cosmopolitan basic approach to the foreign language activity

Quality is the highest proposition of our day-to-day translation activity. We work closely within the translation process with our customers from the areas of science, education and research. Ultimately, we are well aware that authors of academic text work at the highest possible scientific niveau. If there are details that are uncertain, we do not take a shot in the dark, but rather prefer to work closely with our customers, if there are questions.
